What information do I need before I request a preceptor?

Before you request a preceptor on NPHub, have your specialty, rotation location, rotation start and end dates, paperwork due date, and total clinical hours ready, along with your school's rotation requirements. The request form also asks which clinical rotation this is for you (1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc.). If your program needs any additional documents, share them with your preceptor matching specialist so the NPHub team can collect them for you and show you the best match for your school.

What happens after I click Request This Preceptor?

After you click Request This Preceptor on NPHub, you fill in your rotation details and proceed to checkout, where you pay a deposit of 15% of your total rotation cost. If you have an NPHub promo code, it applies to this deposit, and you can use one code per rotation. From there, you can track your request status and message your Student Coordinator by text or email.

What if no preceptors show up for my location or start date?

If no preceptors show up on NPHub for your location or start date, you can join the NPHub waitlist, and the team will start looking for a preceptor who matches your specialty, location, dates, and program requirements. You can also clear the optional Rotation Start Date filter to see every preceptor available in your area.

How long does it take to go from request to a confirmed rotation?

Going from request to a confirmed rotation on NPHub happens in two stages. First, the preceptor accepts you, which typically takes 3–5 days and is often sooner. After that, your clinical paperwork can take up to 14 business days to complete.

Yes, creating an NPHub account is free. NP students can search preceptors by location and specialty, view preceptor details, and create an account at no cost. Your account gives you access to your preceptor request status, communication with your Student Coordinator (once you’ve placed a request), and document uploads and rotation details. You only pay when you request a preceptor and check out with a 15% deposit.
